WEST MEMPHIS, AR (KAIT) - A $15 million facility opened in West Memphis Friday, bringing with it an initial 75 jobs.

Sediver USA Chairman and Seves Group CEO Peter Baumgartner was on hand Friday as the facility, which will manufacture toughened glass insulators, had its grand opening.

"We see clear signs that America's transmission and distribution utilities are ready to invest in high-quality components to ensure reliable power to their customers," said Mr. Baumgartner. "Sediver is committed to providing best-in-class products to our customers and having a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in the U. S. gives us the ability to do that."

Sediver said their toughened glass insulators have a lifespan that exceeds 50 years.

Though the plant will initially hire up to 75 people, there's potential it could expand beyond that number. According to a press release from Sediver USA, demand for Sediver insulators could grow exponentially as the proposed Clean Line Energy project moves from the development phase to construction.

Governor Asa Hutchinson was on hand for the opening. He credited Arkansas' workforce and low-cost of doing business as reasons for Sediver to come to West Memphis.

"I look forward to seeing the economic impact this facility will bring to the West Memphis area," Hutchinson said.

Sediver said with 75 employees, the West Memphis facility is expected to have a $3.5 million annual impact on the local economy.

According to the press release, the facility in West Memphis is Sediver's first production investment in the U. S. in nearly two decades.
